The weekend in Bellingen raised possibilities that there was a way to counter the seemingly endless attack on communities around the world. Governments, multinational companies, the mining giants and much of the mainstream media appear to act only in support of increasing profits Their ever increasing power has allowed the altering of landscapes irreparably; destroying ways of life that have existed through the last ice age to the present; and increasing the rate of climate change. They must be stopped. The approach that combines the evidence of First Nations’ peoples, with that of scientists and lawyers helped us understand the urgent need to counter climate change. I came away from the weekend hoping more people could gain these understandings and share the knowledge that the time to act is NOW!
