Changing not merely what we think but how
The term ONP (Original Nations and Peoples) recognizes our free and pre-invasion existence before the colonial paradigm was forcibly imposed upon our peoples. ‘Indigenous,’ ‘Indigenous Peoples,’ ‘Aboriginal,’ ‘Aborigines,' ‘Indians,' or ‘Natives’ are labels that tend to obscure or erase distinct cultures, practice and peoples.
Original Nations and Peoples have their own distinct and unique cultural experiences, knowledge, language and ceremonial practices. The term InterNātional is intended to describe the interaction of two or more Original Nations or Peoples. When two or more Original Nations and Peoples work together, they are representative of InterNātional efforts.
Whether this is accurate is a question for further discussion when building our Circle of Considerations!
